Born 1603 in San Gimignano, died 1660 in Florence. He was called “il Riposo” because of his unusual tranquillity. He came to Florence as a small boy and studied with Jacopo da Empoli. He copied the works of Andrea del Sarto and Perugino and found his own style by studying the works of Francesco Furini.
He painted religious motifs, mythological scenes and portraits. Ficherelli’s works are in Florence, Pistoia and elsewhere in Tuscany, his drawings are kept in the Musée Vicar in Lille, in the Graphisches Kabinett in Berlin and other collections.
