The central position in the Eden occupies the God, on the left of him are Eve and Adam. The latter is sitting, pointing with his finger to the place of the missing rib. On the right side, a view opens to a colour-faded overgrown background. The detailed composition with numerous particulars from faunal and floral world complements the central scene. The variety of nature is symbolized by animals that are particularly attractive: the ara and other parrots, a stork, swan, pigeon, raven, magpie, turkey, hen, peacock, of the land animals from all continents we can see a lion, tiger, deer, goat, sheep, fox, and even a tapir. All animals are presented in pairs, like Adam and Eve, except for those that were believed to be evil or negative, such as the raven, crow, and naturally snake which is already crawling towards Adam and Eve.
The Creation of Eve painting is one of the seven pictures from the Genesis cycle that painter Andreas Herrlein painted in 1808 for his friend Adam Heinrich Hohn, a Ljubljana bookseller and art patron. Like in most of his works, Herrlein also here relied on reproductive prints, originating most probably from Flemish tradition. The painter was trained in Baroque painting tradition but took over classicist elements, so that landscape details point to Baroque tradition of ideal landscape, while human figures and animals are already painted in the smooth neoclassical manner, with sharp outlines and thin application of paint.
