Female Nude
 circa 1910, oil on canvas, 55 x 33 cm
 bottom right: Ph. Maliavine
 NG S 978
We can date this female nude relatively securely to the time around the year 1910. It shows that Maliavin had thrown off all traces of Repin's school and adopted the style of the French Fauvists, especially as regards strong colours. These recall the world of the Russian ballets of the time – and in fact Maliavin was in close contact with Diaghilev and a great admirer of his work.
