The
exhibition will highlight the long-standing partnership between the National
Gallery of Slovenia and the Department for restoration of the Academy of
Fine Arts and Design of the University of Ljubljana (ALUO UL), which celebrates
the 30th anniversary of its founding in 2026. The cooperation has many levels,
with the end results primarily conserved works of art from the National
Gallery's collection and new discoveries brought out by the research,
investigation and documentation that accompany such interventions. Linking up
with the National Gallery's collection and programmes, the partnership designed
and implemented other projects such as videos, technological studies, tactile
aids and other materials intended for vulnerable groups.
The focus
of the exhibition will be conservation interventions on works of art, carried
out as part of regular study work, as well as on several diploma and master's
theses. These will be presented through documentation, descriptions of the
conservation treatment, and highlighted research challenges related to the
respective topics.
Original
works of art from the National Gallery's collection will augment the
exhibition.
Photographic
material and videos feature sign language and subtitles. Tactile models will
also be available. Presented works will also showcase different artistic media:
polychrome wood sculpture, plaster casts, paintings on canvas, a wall painting
fragment and glass negatives.
