Public Tours

Expert guided tours in Slovene conducted by curators and exhibition authors take place on Sundays at 11 a.m. and according to previously published schedules.

On the first Sunday in March, April, September, October and on 21 September during the International Day of the Deaf an interpreter for the Slovene sign language will be present.

Note that the gallery is able to secure a sign language interpreter for all its guided tours if the booking is done in advance.

Multi-sensory Activities

We organize the tours of exhibitions and the activities during which we do not rely only on our sight and hearing but wish to include all our other senses. Activities are thus available to people with sensory disabilities. Multi-sensory activities are free of charge!

Multi-sensory creative activities in Slovene are scheduled for Saturdays at 10 a.m. on: 15 March, 14 June, 20 September and 18 October 2014. They are appropriate for families and children between the ages 5 and 13.

Thursdaying in the Gallery and in the City

Thursdaying in the gallery: Every first Thursday of the month the curators and restorers of the National Gallery of Slovenia open a small exhibition that highlights a selected work of art and reveals its secrets. You are kindly invited to the lecture in Slovene and to a small banquet and a talk with the lecturer after the event.

Thursdaying in the city: In May, June, September and in October we prepare art walks through Ljubljana that are connected with Slovene artists and works of art in the permanent collection.

Every Thursdaying begins at 6 p.m. For the schedule and the topics see the announcements.

Guided Tours in a Foreign Language

Guided tours of exhibitions at the National Gallery of Slovenia are available to groups of foreigners (at least 10 people) in a foreign language by prior arrangement. One group can include up to 30 people. Larger groups are divided into smaller ones, which is always determined when you book your visit. If you are planning to visit with a large number of guest, note that the gap between two groups is half an hour.

You can also give a guided tour as a gift!

Please contact the Department for Education for details on which languages are currently available.
